For more than 40 years, NEOMED has worked in collaboration with its educational, clinical and research partners to successfully train health professionals and medical researchers, the majority of whom come from and return to serve in Northeast Ohio. The University trains students in a team-based, interprofessional environment and offers Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) and Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degrees, in addition to master’s and doctoral degrees and research opportunities in other medical areas.

Students begin the Medical Ethics and Humanities Program by building a foundation in the medical humanities with theoretical perspectives in ethics. This foundation gives students the tools to critically examine issues and values relevant to health care delivery, research, and the health care organization, as well as the ability to self-reflect, addressing biases and recognizing different viewpoints. All students will be required to participate in a foundations course and a research methods course. Then, based on students’ interests and career paths, they may choose one of two tracks: medical ethics with an emphasis on clinical ethics, or the medical humanities.

This non-traditional program is geared toward the working professional who would like to broaden their role in improving community health, especially in this changing health care environment. The program provides graduates with a foundation of public health skills and knowledge, including analytic skills, research strategies, community assessment methods, program implementation, evaluation, and policy development within an ethical and culturally sensitive perspective.

Master of Public Health Program

Students take six core courses, three generalist track courses, capstone project, and electives. The entire degree is 42 semester credits. Degrees for students enrolled at NEOMED are granted by Northeast Ohio Medical University.
