About the University

Southern Cross University is a vibrant, contemporary Australian university with beautiful campuses at the Gold Coast, Lismore and Coffs Harbour, and branch campuses in Sydney and Melbourne.The University also operates The Hotel School Sydney and The Hotel School Melbourne in partnership with Mulpha Australia.

We welcome students from more than 60 countries throughout the world and offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses in an inspiring and supportive learning environment. In the 2015 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) 2015 national report, SCU achieved outstanding ratings of 'at world standard' or above in 24 research fields. In nine research fields SCU was evaluated at the highest possible classification of 'well above world standard'. This was achieved in the fields of Geochemistry, Oceanography, Environmental Science and Management, Zoology, Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences, Crop and Pasture Production, Forestry Sciences, Nursing, Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

For the third consecutive year, SCU was been ranked number one in Australia for international student support by the International Student Barometer 2015 survey, and ranked number two in Australia for overall learning experience.

The Graduate Certificate of Australian Nursing (EPIQ - Education Programme for Internationally Qualified Nurses) is designed for internationally qualified registered nurses who wish to practise as a registered nurse in Australia. This course is a programme of academic and clinical studies that prepares candidates to gain registration within Australia through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Career opportunities

The course provides graduates with the opportunity to engage in a broad spectrum of clinical nursing specialities.

Professional recognition

Master of Osteopathic Medicine

The Master of Osteopathic Medicine is designed to develop a critical evaluation of the theory and practice of osteopathy and to produce primary care health practitioners who are able to solve complex problems and think rigorously and independently. The degree is built on a contemporary professional model that integrates the principles of evidence-based practice with a holistic paradigm of patient-centred healthcare. [+]

Osteopathy is a holistic system of diagnosis and manual therapy used to treat musculoskeletal and other functional disorders of the body. In Australia, osteopaths are registered primary care practitioners. The Master of Osteopathic Medicine is designed to develop a critical evaluation of the theory and practice of osteopathy and to produce primary care health practitioners who are able to solve complex problems and think rigorously and independently. The degree is built on a contemporary professional model that integrates the principles of evidence-based practice with a holistic paradigm of patient-centred healthcare.

The Master of Osteopathic Medicine is the second stage of a professional-entry-level programme that aims to produce graduates who are eligible to register as practitioners of osteopathic medicine. The first stage is the Southern Cross University Bachelor of Clinical Sciences (with the double major Osteopathic Studies/Human Structure and Function), or the Bachelor of Clinical Sciences (Osteopathic Studies) commencing in 2017, or an equivalent award from another institution. Graduates of the Bachelor of Clinical Sciences (Osteopathic Studies) who commence the course from 2017 onwards, will receive four units of advanced standing into the Master of Osteopathic Studies. Total full-time duration for both courses (undergraduate and Master) is four years.... [-]
