BSN in Nursing (Macedonia School of Nursing at the University of Health Sciences Antigua) The Macedonia nursing program is a three-year program leading to the Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN). The BSN program mirrors the curriculum standards of U.S. nursing schools and follows the guidelines of the Caribbean Regional Nursing Board. Students receive excellent training from highly credentialed nursing and other faculty. Graduates can practice in the USA and the Caribbean as well as other parts of the world. The entire program is spent on campus in Antigua. Students complete practical rotations at the Mount St. John Medical Center and other government health care facilities in Antigua. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the NCLEX examination and the Caribbean Regional Board Examination for licensure as an RN. Nursing School Entry Requirements Caribbean Students Caribbean Students are required to have five (5) G.C.E.O level passes with a minimum grade of C, or five (5) CXC General passes with a minimum grade of III. Required courses for entry include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, an additional science subject such as Biology, and one additional general subject. U.S. and International Students U.S. and International Students must have earned a high school diploma with official transcripts displaying successful completion of English, Mathematics and Chemistry with a minimum grade of C. Each semester is 18-weeks, giving students a short break between their studies. New and transferring students may apply for January and August start dates while May is reserved for transfer students only. [+]

M.D. Program Each semester is 18-weeks, giving students a short break between their studies. New and transferring students may apply for January and August start dates while May is reserved for transfer students only. The first two years, semesters 1-4, are dedicated to completing the Basic Sciences at the serene UHSA campus on the beautiful island of Antigua. Upon completion of the Basic Sciences, students spend the fifth semester (16-weeks) completing the block review Integrated Review of the Basic Sciences. Following the fifth semester, students spend the final two years of the medical program completing the Clinical Sciences. The UHSA M.D. program is based upon the curriculum standards of U.S. medical schools by fully integrating the basic and clinical sciences throughout the entire M.D. program. Students begin interacting with patients during the first semester through local clinics around the island, in addition to UHSA’s Free Clinic of English Harbour where students are supervised by both UHSA faculty as well as experienced practicing physicians and nurses from clinics and hospitals around the island. CURRICULUM Integrated Basic Sciences Curriculum Year One Year Two Clinical Sciences Curriculum Students fulfill the Clinical Sciences portion of the curriculum, which consists of both core and elective rotations, at UHSA’s leading affiliate teaching hospitals located in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom.
