This course facilitates flexible, student-friendly access to learning and students will be based in practice throughout. Each participant will be under the guidance of a formally agreed medical practitioner, who will provide student supervision and support learning opportunities.

Due to the nature of the course, there are a number of strict entry requirements for applicants:

Registration as nurse or midwife on the live register of Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland

Minimum of 3 years post-registration clinical experience (The required clinical practice experience must have been gained within the past 5 years with at least one year in the area in which prescribing is proposed and excludes time spent undertaking further post registration program)

Possession of competencies recognised at Level 8 of the NQAI framework

Demonstration of continuous professional development and the ability to study at level 8

Support from employer and complete Site Declaration form, signed by the Director of Nursing/Midwifery/Public Health

Nomination and confirmation of a designated medical practitioner mentor (completed site declaration form signed by the Medical practitioner/Mentor) who will provide the student with supervision support and opportunities including shadowing opportunities during the period of the Program

Duolingo - The Minimum Requirement Will Be a Det Score of 110. an Interview May Be Required in Conjunction With This for Certain Programs.

Matriculation Examinations - From European Countries Where English Is Presented as a Subject and an Acceptable Level Is Achieved

Irish Leaving Certificate English - Ordinary Level Grade D or Above

TOEFL - 580 (Paper Based) or 90 (Internet Based)

IELTS - Minimum Score of 6.5* With No Less Than 6.0 in Any Component.

ETAPP English Test for Academic and Professional Purposes - Grade C1

GCE ‘O’ Level English Language/ Gcse English Language - Grade C or Above

University of Cambridge ESOL - Certificate of Proficiency in English - Grade C / Certificate in Advanced English - Grade B

GCE Examination Boards - Oxford Delegacy of Local Examinations - Grade C / Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate - School Certificate Pass 1-6 / University of London Entrance and School Examinations Council - School Certificate Pass 1-6
