 but in the country where English is not native language, then you have to present an official letter from your previous educational institution (secondary school, etc.) where it is stated that all your studies were in English (medium of instruction is English), and you have to pass interview where the University of Latvia will evaluate your language skills.

Internationally recognized foreign language certificate does not have to be presented if the applicant has acquired secondary education in an EU/EEA country or Switzerland and in his secondary education certificate is included an assessment of foreign language skills, which are comparable to 

at least level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

Admissions Option 2

The program offers extensive profile studies of natural sciences including organic chemistry, biology, calculus, physics for natural sciences, optics, basics of human anatomy, general physiology, ophthalmic optics, microbiology, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology of the eye, physiology of vision, optometric instruments, refractive defects, binocular vision and other.

Curriculum

 are eligible to apply for a Latvian state scholarship.

Temporary students’ residence permit holders can work 20 hours per week.

Scholarships and Funding Option 2

This programme prepares competitive graduates for Latvian and European labor markets. Graduates work as optometrist’s assistants in optics and clinics. The skills acquired during the study practice also allows to become an optician or a visual ergonomic consultant.

Career Opportunities

I choose University of Latvia because I wanted the education to be high level, to obtain the knowledge I need for my future but also to have and practice. Currently now I’m in my 2nd year of Optometry education and I’m very happy with my choice. The teaching stuff is very kind, polite and with a lot of knowledge and experience they also remain aware of any new information regarding our studies. The optometry department has all the new machines and instruments needed for our practice. And of course from social aspects at University of Latvia there are a lot of international students which are very kind, helpful and welcoming. I’m glad to be part of this community and to have them as colleagues.
