Program Description

The online M.S.N., A.G.N.P. from Seton Hall University builds the skills graduates need to serve adolescent to elderly populations as a nurse practitioner in acute care or primary care settings. Students prepare for the AANPCP exam and graduate ready to provide evidence-based compassionate care and improve their communities. The program gives students the opportunity to select one of two study tracks. The Primary Care track focuses on disease prevention, health promotion and the management of patients with multisystem health problems. Students prepare for practice in a primary care office, occupational health clinic or university health clinic. The Acute Care track prepares students to take care of patients with acute and chronic disease management within the hospital, urgent care, emergency room, and subacute settings. The curriculum focuses on a patient population with acute, critical and chronic illness, disability or injury.

Admissions

• Candidates must possess a baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing from an N.L.N.A.C. or C.C.N.E. accredited program.
• Registered professional nurse licensure in U.S. state of practice and in New Jersey if clinical performed in New Jersey.
• Professional liability insurance.

Career Outlook

According to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, there are currently 205,000 licensed nurse practitioners, compared with 106,000 in 2004. The number is expected to continue to rise as the nation faces a continuing shortage of highly trained nurses. Seton Hall’s M.S.N., A.G.N.P. program prepares graduates for high-paying nurse practitioner positions that, according to The Clinical Advisor’s 2016 annual salary survey, offer a median annual salary of $101,989. Graduates of this program have had a 98 percent pass rate on the AANPCB exam over the past five years, a sign of its quality. Seton Hall also provides a variety of career resources to facilitate the post-graduation success of its students.
