The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at North Dakota State University is accredited through the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). We currently offer the MPH in two specializations:

Both specializations have subplan options such as Management of Infectious Diseases and American Indian Public Health. We also offer several graduate certificates (including American Indian Public Health, Infection Prevention, and Generalist Public Health).

The MPH program at NDSU has strong relationships with entities including the North Dakota Department of Health, Sanford Health, and numerous local public health units, which offer opportunities for practicum sites and final projects.

Classes are offered both on-campus and through distance learning technology. We foster a commitment to our education and research mission by keeping class sizes small and providing opportunities for students to work closely with faculty on research projects.

Many current students are funded with graduate assistantships, which include a monthly stipend and may include a base tuition waiver. All online students pay the in-state tuition rate.

The Master of Public Health program at North Dakota State University offers the MPH in two specializations: Epidemiology and Community Health Sciences, both of which have subplan options such as Management of Infectious Diseases and American Indian Public Health.

All applicants to the Master of Public Health program must demonstrate adequate preparation in a field related to public health and show potential to undertake advanced study, research and practical training as evidenced by previous academic accomplishment and experience.

All admission decisions are based upon full review of all information in the application in order to ensure fairness and to balance the limitations of any single element of the application. Strong preference for admission will be given to applicants with at least one year of practical experience in their field, including practical field experience gained within an academic program.

Applicants must submit applications to both:

GRE scores are not required for admission consideration.

Admissions Option 2

All students who successfully complete the Master of Public Health program must complete at least 18 credits within an area of specialization. Where the foundational courses are designed to focus on core theoretical competencies used in all areas of public health, the specializations focus on applications of these competencies within specific public health practice areas.
