Introduction
Master of Public Health - Nutrition - Residential
If you are passionate about health and desire to affect nutrition on not just an individual but also a community level, then Liberty University’s Master of Public Health in Nutrition is the degree for you! Much like an MBA prepares someone for a career in business, an MPH will prepare you for a career in public health. You will learn the pertinent skills you need to succeed in a career in nutrition or a related field. When you graduate, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills you need to positively impact your community by promoting healthy lifestyles.
Our MPH is a prestigious degree that prepares you to work at all levels of government to affect the health of your community by finding solutions to food-borne illnesses, preventing disease, or fighting nutritional health disorders.
Once in the field you may evaluate food availability to meet basic needs, the security of the food source, and the overall impact of nutrition on the health of a community. The specialization seeks to eliminate food deserts, areas usually in inner cities that lack fresh, nutritious food that is readily available, and enhance food choices through public policy.

Program Outcome
What Will You Learn in Our Master of Public Health - Nutrition Degree?
The foundational courses in this degree provide training in the various concepts of nutrition and provide a basis for the subsequent nutrition classes in the MPH program. You will learn the role of food in culture as to how food metabolizes within the body. This knowledge will help you learn how to alleviate diet-related problems across diverse populations, which will be the main part of a career in federal and private food assistance programs.
The need for food-borne illness prevention is a very important aspect of government programs for food safety. Understanding the causes and preventative measures you can take will be a key part of your education. Certain genetic populations metabolize and react to food differently than others. Therefore, you will study the factors that go into chronic disease prevention based on dietary control measures. Physical fitness is another major component of public health. By educating individuals participating in sports on proper dietary concerns you can do your part to help them care for their bodies as “temples of the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
