Introduction
The Gynaecology and Obstetrics doctoral program includes projects undertaken in the whole range of subspecialties within the discipline as well as those undertaken in cooperation with other disciplines. The expected level of professional knowledge should meet the EBCOG specialty examination requirements. The Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the Medical Faculty, Charles University in Pilsen focuses its scientific and research activities on the following themes: Oncogynaecology, Pelvic Floor Surgery, Immunology of Reproduction, Urogynaecology, Peripartum care, and Gynaecological Endoscopy. There is close cooperation with the Biomedical Centre of the Medical Faculty, a leading and state-of-the-art research establishment.
The Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics also serves as a regional tertiary referral and postgraduate training center.

Career Opportunities
The Ph.D. graduate should have a thorough knowledge of the research and development process for undertaking scientific and research work. The candidate should be well aware of the recent professional literature in relation to the Ph.D. theme, be able to define their research hypothesis, and have an understanding of the choice of adequate research methods, design, and results in analysis. These results should be applicable and relevant to clinical practice, particularly when testing innovative medical approaches.
The Ph.D. graduate should have the ability to summarize the results, publish and present his/her work at national and international meetings.
The Ph.D. graduate is expected to participate in collaborative work by joining multi-centric and/or international scientific cooperation.
The Ph.D. graduate will be expected to give lectures, in their study field, to pre as well as postgraduate students.
