Introduction
Students who earn the Orthotic and Prosthetic Clinical Applications Diploma will meet the requirements to be employed as an Orthotic/Prosthetic Assistant or enter a Baccalaureate degree or a Master’s degree in Orthotics Prosthetics.
Students will:
Transform people’s lives in a career that blends science, technology, healthcare, and artistic design
Care for patients with conditions of the limbs and spine by fabricating devices known as braces (orthoses)
Provide care for patients with a partial or total absence of a limb by fabricating artificial limbs (prostheses).
Orthotic and Prosthetic Program graduates at the end of this program will be able to:
be competent, entry-level orthotic and prosthetic professionals prepared in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains.
Demonstrate the ability to comprehend, apply, and evaluate clinical information relevant to their orthotic and prosthetic profession role.
Demonstrate technical proficiency in all skill areas necessary to fulfil their role as orthotic and prosthetic professionals.
Demonstrate effective decision-making and critical thinking abilities.
Communicate clearly and effectively with individuals, families, groups, and colleagues of diverse sociocultural backgrounds.
