Program Description


The Specialist degree program in Pharmaceutics combines research and practice and deals with drug design, search for natural sources and synthesis of medicinal substances, research of such substances, as well as issues of manufacturing, storage, dispensing, and marketing.

The media of instruction for the program are Russian and English.


Program significance

The program is of interest to applicants and opens new prospects for them, as the demand for highly-skilled pharmaceutical personnel keeps rising. It results from longer life spans and welfare growth, which in turn increases healthcare requirements. Expenses on medicines form a big part of healthcare costs.

The “Pharmaceutics” program is aimed at training specialists with a wide range of competencies necessary today. Graduates will have skills in pharmacy shop management; production of medicines at enterprises and in pharmacy shops; pharmaceutical analysis and toxicology tests; pharmaceutical marketing; studying crude medicinal plants and production of medicines based on them, as well as research connected with design and introduction of medicines.

Upon completion of training, graduates will be able to work at pharmacy shops, analytical and toxicological laboratories; chemical and pharmaceutical enterprises in the capacity of technologists, analysts, marketing specialists, technical officers, representatives of global pharmaceutical companies.

Within the first two years of study, students acquire theoretical knowledge that lays grounds for vocational subjects. Beginning with the 3d year, students study theory and build practical skills in major-specific disciplines working at laboratories that are equipped with state-of-the-art apparatuses and devices. They can reinforce their professional skills at pharmaceutical companies located in Belgorod and in other regions of Russia.

The University pharmacy shop is a work-study unit where field practice and practical training in economics and management are carried out. Contemporary pharmaceutical companies (e.g. Veropharm JSC, VIC Companies group, PIC-PHARMA Companies group) become venues of internship and field training in chemical and technological subjects, enabling students to apply practical skills in real life. Students have the opportunity to apply their creative potential in writing course papers, as well as diploma papers (in the 5th year) based on their independent research conducted under the guidance of competent professors. The University research laboratories and structural units are used for this purpose.


Russian applicants are admitted to this program based on the State Exam results in Chemistry and Biology, while foreign applicants have to take exams in the above subjects.
