Overview

The dental curriculum leads to the dentist degree, and forms the basis for specialist education or scientific (PhD) studies. The aim of the study programme is to prepare qualified specialists with theoretical and practical skills appropriate to commence independently practicing general dentistry.

The study program has been developed according to EU Directive 2005/36/EC of mutual recognition of qualifications of health care professionals, directly related to the guidelines of Association of Dental Education in Europe.

What documents do I need to apply?

EU/EEA citizens

  1. Passport or national ID
  2. A scanned copy the LU medical report filled out and signed by your physician (Not a family member!).
  3. Transcript of final grades and state examinations – both in English and the original language. Both copies need to be verified with a notary stamp and signature!
  4. Your high school diploma if it’s issued separately – both in English and the original language. Both copies need to be verified with a notary stamp and signature!
  5. Proof of English language proficiency if needed (see section Language requirements)
  6. Payment receipt after paying for your application, uploaded along with other documents

Citizens of outside EU/EEA

  1. Passport

  3. Transcript of final grades and state examinations – both in English and the original language. Both copies need to be verified with a notary stamp and signature, and apostilled or verified by the Foreign Affairs ministry or relevant of your country and the Embassy of Latvia closest to you!

  5. Proof of English language proficiency (see section Language requirements)

The entry qualification documents are accepted in any language

You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university.

NB! Non-EU applications that contain documents that are not Apostilled or verified properly will not be evaluated and considered for admissions.

Language requirements

English

All applicants must prove their English language proficiency in a level that corresponds to B2 according to the CEFR levels.

Additional requirements for citizens of India, Sri Lanka, Nepal:

  1. Results of one of the internationally recognized tests (IELTS, TOEFL etc.) at least level B2 at CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages);
  2. Skype interview which includes questions about profiling subjects and motivation.
Other requirements
  • Incomplete applications or e-mail submissions will not be considered
  • Complete applications will receive feedback within 2 weeks of applying
  • The final results will be available approximately in mid-July
  • We are not able to provide official results before that because the competition can be influenced by each new application we receive
  • Candidates will be expected to accept or decline a study place. If the university doesn’t receive a decision within the given deadline, it will be considered declined and as such – not available at later time
  • The university is not obliged to give detailed explanations on its decision if the applicant has not met the necessary conditions to receive an offer
  • The university reserves the right to withdraw an offer if its conditions are not met and will not be liable for any material or immaterial loss the applicant may have as a result

Career opportunities

Successful graduates of the study program have employment and self-employment opportunities based on professional qualification. The possibilities of joining the oral health care centers or private dental clinics or creating own practices are available as soon as professional certificate is obtained.
