Program Description

Xavier University School of Medicine offers a program where high school graduates receive pre-Med classes that will prepare them to enter into medical program without first obtaining a bachelors degree.

FOR 5 1/2 YEAR MD PROGRAM (to begin in the Pre-Medical Program @ Aruba)

  • High School Diploma
  • Cumulative GPA: 3.0 - SAT: 1200 (old system) 1800 (new system) or ACT 26 - TOEFL: 231 (for other than USA, UK, or Canadian students)
  • IELTS: 6.0 (for other than USA, UK, or Canadian students)

For those students who have no reservations about their career path and are clear about their choice to pursue a career in medicine, this program is ideal.

The initial four semesters focus on pre-medical studies to fully prepare these students to enter the pre-clinical MD program at Xavier University School of Medicine. After completing the initial four semesters, the student then joins the MD program, completes the pre-clinical and clinical rotations, and remains a qualified candidate for medical licensure in the US.

Typical high school graduates who complete the 5 year program are fully prepared to enter residency before the age of 23. Students in this program are generally grateful to have secured their position as a medical student without investing additional time and money pursuing a bachelors or a Masters degree.
