Postgraduate Research

Doing a Ph.D. is an exciting, challenging and rewarding experience and forms the foundation for your subsequent scientific career. We develop scientists who are capable of working across interdisciplinary teams and who can tackle problems of practical relevance to veterinary science.

  • RVC Ph.D. students have the privilege of learning from experts who produce cutting-edge research in a range of subjects and are published in the top academic journals
  • Our staff and students come from around the world
  • Our perspective is truly international
  • London is a unique location – students benefit from close proximity to other international centers of excellence in biomedical and biological sciences

Research at the RVC is of international quality. We train scientists to work in interdisciplinary teams capable of tackling problems of practical relevance to veterinary and biomedical science and offer the following study options:

  • Ph.D.: Three or four years full-time
  • DVetMed: Three to five years part-time
  • MRes: Full-time course for one year
  • RVC has around 30-35 new Ph.D. students starting each year, 7 of whom have industry-sponsorship. Ph.D. students are immersed in research across RVC and play an active role in College life
