Biomechanics is an interdisciplinary scientific discipline, which, based on a detailed knowledge of anatomy and the biochemistry of relevant processes, deals with the mechanical structure and behavior of living systems and their mutual mechanical interactions. The main theoretical aim is the formulation of generally valid rules, both at the cellular and organic level, as well as at the human, individual level.

The biophysical and engineering methodological approach for solving tasks is supported by high-level knowledge of the biological character. The research takes place at various distinct levels ranging from micro-biomechanics (cellular level) to living macro systems (e.g. biomechanics of humans).
