Introduction
The study program Pathology includes mainly the following topics: correlation of morphological and molecular findings in cancers with special reference to differential diagnostics, to the methods of detection of viral and bacterial pathogens in carcinogenesis, and to clinicopathologic correlations in hematooncology, head and neck pathology, salivary gland oncology, pathology and oncology of urogenital, respiratory, and gastrointestinal tract. The study program underlines description of poorly understood and newly recognized tumor entities, as well
This study program is without specialization.

Career Opportunities
The Ph.D. program in Pathology focuses especially on the following areas: morphological and molecular-biologic features of human tumors and their significance for the differential diagnosis, viral and bacterial pathogens in carcinogenesis, clinicopathological correlations in haematopathology, tumors of the head and neck, lungs, salivary glands, and the gastrointestinal tract. New disease entities are characterized. The Ph.D. student acquires a broad scope of knowledge of the whole of pathology as well as laboratory research skills (esp. methods of molecular biology and immunohistochemistry) and presentation skills. The up-to-date studies in pathology underline the importance of immune profile, molecular genetics, and ultrastructure of the disease processes, especially of tumors.
