Introduction
Our changing health care industry requires nurses with more skills and knowledge than ever before. Benedictine University’s Online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is designed to teach nurses to rise to the challenges of today’s complex health care environment and to help them advance their careers.
Benedictine’s Online MSN curriculum aligns with standards set by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing for graduate nursing education. Students study topics including leadership, informatics and healthcare technologies, health care advocacy and policy, collaboration among health care professionals, cultural sensitivity, and other subjects that will help them take their practice to a higher level. The program is also accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
Nurse Educator: Students study teaching and learning theories, instructional design and curriculum evaluation in preparation for teaching nursing students or patients in a variety of settings. Coursework also covers advanced nursing topics such as health assessment, pathophysiology, and pharmacology from the Nurse Educator perspective. The concentration may be used as preparation for the National League of Nursing’s Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) examination, as well as for educator-related certifications offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
