Multi-professional Support for Learning & Assessment in Practice - Professional Development [Level HE5] [Online, 30 weeks] part-time
If your role as a health care professional involves training, supporting, mentoring and assessing learners in the workplace then this course has been designed around your needs, and those of your employer. It is specifically for nurses and allied health professionals (AHPs) whose role involves supporting learners in the workplace, and those who help train new employees or students in their working environment. This is an excellent continuing professional development course for anyone seeking career progression. It meets the specific needs of employers and will help participants gain access to higher levels of responsibility at work.
Supporting and developing learners in the workplace is a challenging and rewarding part of many health care roles, and these professional, management skills are in great demand.
You may study this course via online distance learning (please note that this requires access to a computer, the internet and the ability to use a web browser e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer) and attendance at a Practice setting.
The main topics covered by the course include: establishing effective working relationships; facilitation of learning; assessment and accountability; evaluation of learning; creating an environment for learning; context of practice; evidence based practice; and leadership. Together these skills will allow you to successfully support and assess learners in the workplace.
Assessment in all cases is by the submission of coursework. There are no exams.
The course is flexible and designed to fit in with your busy home and working life. The University of Bolton offers excellent student support, and small class sizes, taught by friendly, approachable and experienced tutors. All students have access to all university facilities including libraries and IT suites.
You may be given financial support from your employer or you may be self-funded. You will need your employer’s support to complete this qualification because you will need access to both a mentor (who helps the university assess your progress on the course) and a learner (to practice your skills on) in the workplace.
This course is part of a professional development framework and the credits gained upon completion of this course can be used towards the BSc (Hons) Professional Studies (Health and Social Care) at the University of Bolton.
Applicants must have completed at least one year full-time work experience post-qualifying in an appropriate health or social care related profession (e.g. nurse, allied health professional).
Applicants must also have appropriate current employment.
If English is not your first language you will also normally need IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent). If you do not have the required English level, you can study English with us from IELTS 4.0 (or equivalent).
