The Physiology Graduate Program at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA has developed a Master’s program specifically designed to provide advanced training and understanding of the functions of the body and to serve as the foundation for the study of medicine. Successful completion of this one-year program will increase your competitiveness for medical schools or equivalent professional programs. The program includes Advanced Medical Physiology, Neurophysiology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Translational Physiology. The program is open for applications all year around.

Students can participate in research, grant writing, and protocol creation. Students will have a chance to interact with faculty and researchers from Tulane School of Medicine, the VA healthcare system, and Pennington Biomedical Research Center. This program also facilitates learning the materials tested on the MCAT.

Degree Requirements

Students must take 30 credit hours of coursework during the fall and spring semesters and complete the requirements for the degree.

Admission Requirements

Undergraduate certification and a baccalaureate degree in biology or related major are required for admission. For the US applicants, a minimum GPA of 3.0 and either MCAT of 502 or DAT of 18 or GRE of 300 is required. Applications will be reviewed year round.

Application for admission to the Master of Science degree program in Physiology should be submitted to the Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences Office. The non-refundable application fee of $50.00 should be made to Tulane University. Applications will be reviewed as they are received and applicants will be admitted on a competitive basis. Mandatory Fees

Academic Support Services Fee

The Academic Support Services Fee entitles a student to use the supplementary services of the University libraries and academic support services, such as language and science laboratories. It also covers certain computer services, data and voice hookups, the tutoring services and some of the non-testing components of the Center for Educational Resources and Counseling, certain online library services, and other academic support services.

Student Health Center Fee

The Student Health Fee provides students with primary care, psychiatric care, and contraceptive care at the Student Health Center. It also contributes to health education programs, drug/alcohol counseling, and the Tulane Emergency Medical Service.

Student Activity Fee

The Student body at Tulane assesses itself a Student Activity Fee to support its activities. The Student Activity fee entitles students to participate in or attend supported activities, a readership of a weekly newspaper, and admission to many intercollegiate athletic contests, movies, and lectures.

Reily Recreation Center Fee

Full-time students will be assessed for membership to the Reily Recreation Center. Part-time students have the option to join the Reily Center.

Financial Aid

There is no financial aid available from the Department of Physiology or Tulane University for the Master’s Program. Information on other financial aid can be obtained from the university’s Office of Financial Aid
