Doctoral study opportunities As a graduate of this programme, you are eligible to pursue doctoral studies in public and global health, social sciences as well as other disciplines. Several graduates have joined the IPPE programme (International Doctoral Programme in Epidemiology) at the University of Tampere, School of Health Sciences, transitioning smoothly from the international Master’s Degree Programme. Programme specific admission criteria To be eligible to the programme an applicant must have a university level Bachelor's degree in public or global health or another health-related field or alternatively a university level Bachelor's degree in some other relevant field accompanied with a sufficient amount of studies in the field of health. In addition, work experience in public or global health will be taken into account. Other requirements The Bachelor's degree or equivalent must be completed by the time the programme begins. If the degree is not completed by the end of the application period, an applicant can be accepted to the programme on the condition that she/he sends the degree certificate to the University by 31 July 2017. An attested copy of the degree certificate must reach the University of Tampere Admissions office by the deadline. A successful applicant will, in this case, first receive a notification on conditional acceptance and later an official letter of acceptance once the degree certificate has reached the University of Tampere. If the applicant has a degree in which the relevant studies in the applicable fields are insufficient, the university may require that the student conducts additional studies in addition to the Master's degree studies. Priority will be given to applicants with no prior Master’s degree or higher degree. [-]

Higher University of Applied Sciences Degree in Health Promotion The scope of the degree programme is 90 cr, of which 60 cr is professional studies and 30 cr for the Master's thesis. The studies last approximately 2.5 years.

 

The language of instruction is English. Contact teaching 2-3 days per month in Kotka, Finland. The studies will begin in autumn 2013, 20 student places. (No intake in 2012)
