What is a Master in Age Care? This degree is more often referred to as a degree in aged care or geriatrics. The program’s focus is to prepare students to work with older patients in a health care setting. The program may be taken by nurses to specialize in geriatric care or by individuals who wish to work in other areas of health care involving older patients. The program coursework often focuses on topics like loss and grief, healthy aging, ageist stereotyping and end-of-life services. Programs also tent to focus on theory, research and ethics in the area of aged care with a concentration on looking at making care better and addressing current issues in the field.

The benefits of completing this degree program are that graduates can be more capable of providing higher level care to geriatric patients. The coursework learned in the program usually provides graduates with skills to improve the quality of life for their patients and increase awareness in the community of issues in geriatric care.

While it generally takes two years to complete this program, this can vary, which impacts program cost. Contacting the school where you wish to enroll is the best way to discover financial obligations.

A graduate of an age care program is often able to work in a variety of areas. If the person is already working in health care, they may now be prepared to specialize in geriatrics. The program might also prepare graduates to work in administration where they are able to improve services and create opportunities for additional aged care services. Careers may be found in health care, policy development and human and social services.

As the world’s population continues to age, there is a huge need for more people working in age care services. Search for your program below and contact directly the admission office of the school of your choice by filling in the lead form.
