Each student will have a specialist thesis supervisor from GUCM Students will decide on the topic of their thesis and conduct a literature review during the first year. The second year will be mainly devoted to textual, clinical or laboratory-based research upon which the thesis/dissertation will be written. Students may conduct their research in Ireland (or other neighbouring European countries if appropriate) at clinical or research establishments approved by GUCM. Alternatively they may go to Guangzhou, if they wish, during the second year and conduct their research there. All Students will defend their thesis in Guangzhou at the end of the second academic year. The course will be taught in English. OVERVIEW The two-year Master in Health Economics prepares students for jobs in the Health Economics field. Students are taught on the ideal use of applied quantitative methods for the analysis of health care data and to provide a sound understanding of health economics issues that surface in today’s globalised economy. There is a growing requirement for trained health economists in the Middle East and in recent years, and regional health care systems have undergone major changes leading to extensive health economic evaluations. With a perceptible increase of big data within health care systems, there is an escalating demand for health care professionals to competently manage, explore, understand, and analyze data to facilitate quality in decision-making. International recognition Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi provides the combined experience of three globally renowned French universities including Paris-Sorbonne University, Paris-Descartes University and Pierre and Marie Curie University. This rich heritage of joint excellence is now available in Abu Dhabi, under the Ministry of Education and is recognised worldwide.
