Program Description

The fundamental issues of forensic medicine and the peculiarities of application to the dental branch will be dealt with and deepened.

The aim is to train the professional figure of the legal dentist, i.e. a professional competent in the assessment of dental damage, in the civil and criminal law, in traumatology and in professional responsibility, in the various roles of party consultant, consultant of Office and Expert. The training will also focus on the ethical and bioethical, regulatory and jurisprudential aspects of the discipline and will include the discussion of the more strictly defined "forensic" issues, concerning the setting of identification analysis, in the living and in the corpse, in the field of odontology. To make the learner aware of alternative dispute resolution options, the educational training program will include the course for "Professional Mediator" pursuant to Legislative Decree 24/2010 - Ministerial Decree 180/2010: this will allow for an expansion of skills, communication skills and vision psychology of relational profiles.

The Master is qualified as Plus - Experience for its technical-scientific and experiential characteristics

UniCamillus divides the didactic proposal of the First and Second level Masters and the Higher Education Courses, into the following types:

  • Science: courses characterized by a purely technical and scientific approach
  • Plus: courses characterized by a multidisciplinary approach also containing managerial and extra medical-surgical elements and subjects
  • Experience: the above courses with high and particular experiential training and internship activities at specialized structures

Duration: The Master has a duration of 12 months and provides for a total of 1,500 hours, divided into:

  • Lectures and seminars
  • Practical activity
  • Internship (750 hours)
  • Individual study and preparation activities including preparation of the final exam

Attendance: Attendance is compulsory for at least 75% of the total hours of the Master. For lectures and seminars there is a commitment of 1 weekend per month. The internship hours will be scheduled in agreement with the host structure.

Available places: For the purposes of activation, the minimum number of students is 8. Below this threshold UniCamillus may decide unilaterally not to activate the Master (with the return of any participation fees already paid). The maximum number of places available is 18 members.

The methodology and the didactic program

The purpose of the Master is the training of qualified consultants in dental medical-legal matters.

The Master's program includes the following teaching modules:

Module 1: Anatomy and applied biology (2 CFU)

  • Anatomical knowledge of neuro-vascular structures in dentistry
  • Biological knowledge of bone biology and the response of bone tissue to implants

Module 2: Dental profession: normative and jurisprudential references (2 CFU)

  • Legal and forensic dentistry: framework of the discipline
  • Ethics, bioethics, legislation and deontology in the practice of the dental profession
  • Dentist-patient relationship: relationship of care and relationship care
  • Professional profiles: dentist, dental technician, dental hygienist, assistant
  • Dental offices and clinics: authorizations, infection prevention, management and treatment of medical and non-medical waste, health advertising, radiodiagnostics, radiation protection
  • Main reference judgments
  • Dentistry in the public and private sectors
  • Document your work: medical records.
  • Privacy, information and consent, professional secrecy

Admission requirements and selection procedures

To be admitted to the Master you must be in possession of at least one of the following degrees (or in the process of obtaining by the end date of enrollment in the Master):

  • Degree in Medicine and Surgery with specialization in Odontostomatology or qualification to practice as a Dentist
  • Degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics with qualification exam for the professional practice of Dentistry
  • Bachelor's degree in law

They can also apply:

  • Candidates in possession of qualifications equivalent to those listed above obtained according to the previous university system.
  • Candidates in possession of an academic qualification obtained abroad comparable in duration and content to those listed above.

The University reserves the right to admit candidates with different qualifications but relevant to the Master's educational path. For admission to the Master, a selection will be made and a ranking of merit will be formulated, based on the curriculum. In case of ex aequo at the last available place in the ranking, the youngest candidate will be admitted.

In case of renunciation of one or more candidates, the ranking will be scrolled.

Methods and deadlines for submitting the application

The application must be submitted, signed and written on plain paper, as well as written in a clear and legible way, using the form available on the site, by 10 November 2020:

  • With delivery by hand at the University (opening hours from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 13.00)
  • By registered letter with return receipt to the address: Postgraduate School - UniCamillus University - Via di Sant'Alessandro 8 - 00131 Rome
  • By certified mail to the address: unicamillus@pec.it (in the subject please specify the name of the master you intend to participate in)

The following documents must be attached to the application:

  • Curriculum vitae et studiorum in European format, dated and signed;
  • Photocopy of a valid identity document;
  • Copy of the degree certificate;
  • Any additional qualifications that you wish to submit for evaluation for admission;
  • Declaration of having read the information relating to the processing of personal data pursuant to art. 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 on the "protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data" (hereinafter also "GDPR") provided by UniCamillus;
  • Photocopy of the tax code or health card (for Italian citizens and for foreigners who are in possession of it);
  • For candidates in possession of qualifications equivalent / equivalent to those required: substitutive declaration of certification, pursuant to art. 46 point m of Presidential Decree 28/12/2000, n. 445, certifying the achievement of the qualifications, in accordance with current legislation;
  • Candidates with a qualification obtained abroad must submit the "Declaration of studies abroad" (using the form available on the website). Within 2 months from the start date of the lessons, these candidates must deliver to the student secretariat, under penalty of exclusion, the original of the official translation into Italian of the qualifications, complete with legalization and Declaration of Value issued by the Italian Embassy or Italian Consulate General competent for the territory in the country in which the title was produced.

The list of those admitted to the selection and the date and place of the selection will be published on the UniCamillus website.

THE PARTICIPATION FEE

The participation fee is equal to Euro 4,500.00, to be paid in 3 installments with the following amounts:

  • The first installment of Euro 1500 within the deadline for registration which will be communicated by UNICAMILLUS together with the notification of admission to the Master
  • The second installment of Euro 1,500 by 31/03/2021
  • The third installment of Euro 1,500 by 30/06/2021

If the candidate does not make the payment within the time limits indicated by UniCamillus in the admission notice, he will lose his position in the ranking and it will be scrolled until all places have been filled.
