Introduction

The Master's Degree in Health Care and Research (MAIS) Is a title of the Faculty of Health Sciences. Duration of 60 ECTS / year. Branch of knowledge of Health Sciences. Oriented towards training in basic and clinical research.

Why study the degree

This Master is designed for students who want to orient their professional interests to biomedical research and that come from the qualifications of Health Sciences, such as Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Dentistry ..., or related degrees to Biomedical research, such as Biology, Pharmacy ... This master's degree is supported by the Biomedical Research Institute of A Coruña (INIBIC) and the University Hospital Complex A Coruña (CHUAC).

What is learned

General Structure of the Curriculum:

Initial part: Research in Health Sciences, 15 ECTS. It takes place during the first four months.

Three specialties, of 45 ECTS:

  • Functional Re-education, Personal Autonomy and Quality of Life : Face-to-face specialization for training and research in interdisciplinary care strategies for the promotion of personal autonomy and improvement of the quality of life of people with disabilities. 25 Places
  • Fundamentals of Biomedical Research : Specialized in face to face advanced training in research techniques in Cell Biology, Cell Cultivation, Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Proteomics, Microbiology, Neuroscience, Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, etc. 10 Places
  • Clinical Research : Distance specialty for training and research in the clinical field.

Professional and academic outputs

Professional environment in which it is located

The research groups of the UDC involved in this program, as well as the research groups of the CHUAC and the INIBIC, have considerable scientific output and have a significant number of R & D & I projects. One fact that comes to demonstrate the interest and support of the administration in the evolution of these groups is the project of creation of the Center of Technological Research in Health and Quality of Life (Project ASISTA), in the future Technological Park of the UDC.

Professional and academic outputs

Depending on the specialty, the master's degree qualifies for activity in the following fields: basic and clinical research, development of clinical trials, clinical laboratories, pharmaceutical and biotechnological industry, health and human welfare. The master's degree gives access to the Doctoral Program in Health Sciences, which offers a wide range of groups and lines of research.
