Overview

The first-of-its-kind, completely online Master of Public Health programme from the University of Johannesburg aims to empower health professionals to analyze, strategize, and offer solutions to public health challenges in South Africa and around the globe. Study environmental health, occupational health, and epidemiological threats and risks.

Our curriculum is comparable with programmes offered at internationally accredited schools of public health, but with a curriculum tailored to South Africa and Sub-Saharan legislation, health imperatives, and economic environment. Completion of this programme will enable you to progress to a doctorate in a health-related field of study.

This programme requires no travel and no face-to-face sessions, allowing you to earn credits at your own pace while fulfilling personal and professional obligations. Complete the programme in a minimum of two years

Admission requirements

Let’s get started! The admission process is the first step toward advancing your career. Familiarize yourself with these requirements for the Master of Public Health online programme, along with information on required documentation.

  • Health-related qualification at NQF level 8 such as Environmental Health, MbChB, Social Work, Physiotherapy, Nursing and other related equivalent qualification
  • Three to five years’ work experience in the Health sector inclusive of research and/or project management
  • A minimum of five years’ work experience in the field of Environmental Health and Occupational Health and safety
  • Three to five years’ Experience in a management position in the Health Sector
  • Applicants with equivalent qualifications will be considered by a constituted status committee if they submit a detailed CV and motivation letter.
