Program Description
The Master of Philosophy (Pharmacy) is a one-year research-based programme that is offered in both full-time and part-time programme structures. Our master’s degree programme in pharmacy gives students integrated, broad-based research training needed to exploit current advances in multidisciplinary areas of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences. They will undertake research projects in key specialized research areas and be prepared to advance their careers, nationally and internationally, in teaching and research in academia, secure employment in the pharmaceutical industry or government sector and pursue their PhD degrees. Pharmacy students are also required to attend research methodology modules in their first year of candidature.
Graduates of this master’s degree programme in pharmacy will have the know-how, hands-on training and confidence to conduct independent research in various areas of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences.

Programme Structure
Full-time
- Minimum period: 1 year (12 months)
- Maximum period: 4 years (48 months)
Part-time
- Minimum period: 2 years (24 months)
- Maximum period: 6 years (72 months)
Conversion to PhD Candidacy
Students may elect to convert their master’s programme to the PhD programme after one year of study. Candidates must demonstrate outstanding work such as publications or creation of intellectual property that extends the existing boundary of knowledge.
