M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling: This is a 60 hour program which is nationally accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Educationally Related Programs (CACREP). The degree prepares individuals to be licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Who Would be Interested in This Program?
Individuals who are interested in becoming Licensed Professional Counselors in Kentucky or almost any other state in the U.S. Individuals who are interested in working in a variety of clinical settings doing mental health counseling would be interested in this degree.
What Are the Requirements to be Admitted to the Program?
The program is a 60 hour program which meets the national standards established by CACREP. There are nine hours of electives, a practicum and internship conducted in a mental health setting.
Where Are Recent Graduates Employed?
Recent graduates are employed in private practice, Community Mental Health Centers, hospitals, residential treatment centers and a variety of other agencies that need to employ individuals who are licensed by the state to engage in mental health counseling.
