Program Description

General characteristics

It is a university degree which is part of a structured higher education study according to the Bologna Declaration. Study is possible only as a full-time study with a standard length of study - 2 years. Upon graduation, i.e. on the basis of a successful defence of a master thesis and a state final examination, the graduate obtains a Master's degree (abbreviated as M.Sc.).

Aims of study in the study program

The study program Systematic Integration of Processes in Healthcare mainly prepares practically oriented graduates combining medical knowledge with technical and economic knowledge. This is an essential condition of the successful management of any healthcare facility.

The aim of the study is to introduce the students to the principles of activities and possibilities of an application of medical devices including ICT in medicine. A great emphasis is given on the assessment of medical technology (HTA), which means collecting and evaluating information concerning medical, economic, social and ethical impacts of implementation of medical technologies with the aim to maximise the benefits within the limited resources and increase the effectiveness. Moreover, the student gains necessary knowledge in the organization and management of healthcare, the economy of healthcare, and quality of healthcare. The study program is compiled to allow the students to master the practical skills necessary for the performance of the profession, while it is based on the necessary theoretical knowledge.

Education is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The practical part is provided by the system of training and internships in healthcare facilities.

Profile of the study program graduate

The profile of a graduate of the study program Systematic Integration of Processes in Healthcare is designed to offer wide employment opportunities. The graduate of the study program gains a unique opportunity to encounter with the healthcare system of the Czech Republic from more perspectives. This is provided mainly by passing technical, medical and economic courses.

The graduates view the healthcare system as interdisciplinary. He/she understands the points of view of individual medical specialisations, and understands the conflicts often arising from a narrow perspective of these specializations. He/she can foresee the motives and reactions and communicate with individual professionals, which gives him/her preconditions for a good strategic and operative management of interdisciplinary teams in various branches of healthcare. He/she has knowledge in medical and technical areas, which makes his/her performance of a management position in this specific branch easier.

The knowledge and skills of the graduates focus especially on preparation for practice, especially in healthcare facilities, but also in manufacturing, service or trade companies.

The study program Systematic Integration of Processes in Healthcare is prepared to suit a wide spectrum of graduates from bachelor study programs. The program is designed to prepare engineers for managerial and technical work in healthcare facilities as well as in the commercial area. The program objective is to prepare graduates for important decision-making and managerial positions in the area promoting the quality in healthcare. The study program System Integration of Processes in Healthcare prepares professionals able to manage medical teams, the graduates have the knowledge necessary for management, including economic aspects. The graduates of the study program System Integration of Processes in Healthcare may find jobs on managerial positions in medical facilities or in-state administration institutions. The graduates of the study program are endowed with theoretical knowledge and practical skills not only in technical and academic areas, but they are also sufficiently acquainted with medical issues. This allows them to adapt themselves to the environment of healthcare facilities and communicate with the doctors and other medical staff as well as with drug and medical devices suppliers, and to make qualified decisions. They can also be employed in manufacturing, service or trade organisations involved in the healthcare industry.
