In MSc Epidemiology Postgraduate and MSc Epidemiology Postgraduate Online, you will examine the distribution and determinants of health and morbidity in specific populations. With evidence-based medicine setting new standards, there is a growing need/demand for specialists working on the design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation of epidemiological and health research. This scientific discipline is increasingly in demand in clinical research (human, pharmaceutical, and veterinary), industry, and policymaking.
Epidemiology Postgraduate is offered in two variants:
- MSc Epidemiology Postgraduate: MSc Epidemiology Postgraduate is a face-to-face programme taught in Utrecht (1.5 years). The programme starts September 2015, deadline for admission and application is April 1st, 2015.
- MSc Epidemiology Postgraduate Online: this variant offers the same content as the face-to-face programme and will be studied online (3-5 years). The programme starts February 2016, deadline for admission and application is October 1st, 2015.
Both variants are highly suitable for applicants who have already completed a postgraduate medical or biomedical degree, such as physicians, veterinarians, pharmacists, and PhD candidates holding an MSc in Life Sciences. For students holding a BSc degree, there is a two-year regular programme.
In both variants of the Epidemiology Postgraduate programme you will learn to operate as an epidemiologist and clinical researcher.
The program consists of core courses (20 EC), specialization courses (14 EC), and a research project (56 EC).
MSc Epidemiology Postgraduate: In the Utrecht variant, you can choose your specialisation such as Clinical Epidemiology, Infectious Diseases Epidemiology, Pharmacoepidemiology, Medical Statistics, Environmental & Occupational Epidemiology, and Veterinary Epidemiology. The research project is conducted within a research theme of one of the participating institutes and supervised by a faculty staff member.
MSc Epidemiology Postgraduate Online: In the online variant you select from Clinical Epidemiology, Veterinary Epidemiology and General Epidemiology. The research project can be conducted at your own location in cooperation with one of the participating institutes and supervised by a faculty staff member from Utrecht University.
