The course medical education (M. A.) oriented as Master study course on the content and organizational structure of the studies for the teaching profession at vocational schools in Thuringia (§ 14 ThürLbG).

Details on the study model

The course medical education (M. A.) is offered as a part-time study program, d. h. there is compressed attendance sessions that can be connected with a professional activity well. In the period between two attendance periods you consolidate the content of teaching by guided self-study. The time of presence at our university includes 5 Block weekends per semester, which take place from Thursday to Monday.

You can study with Erasmus + after completing the first year of study at a European university in another participating country, there to expand your social and cultural skills and optimize your job prospects. Content, objectives and end of the study

Medical Education (MA) - Course content

The consecutive master program builds on already acquired knowledge and skills of a bachelor's degree Medicine Pedagogy and is expanding it further in order to meet the expected level to highly trained teachers.

The textual content of the modules is assigned on 12/03/2008 three pillars on the basis of the Thuringian teacher training law.

The Master program Medical Education therefore has three main priorities:

  • Education Science and Vocational Education
  • First vocational subject Health Science
  • Second vocational subject care and treatment Science

Education Science and Vocational Education

At the center of gravity "Education Science and Vocational Education" are the professional design of teaching and learning situations and educational research activities.

The course contents are mediated by educational teaching methods in an interactive and interdisciplinary learning units and in the form of problem-based learning. This includes the acquisition of didactic teaching methods and pedagogical teaching skills. Through small learning groups project-based, hands-on approaches can be integrated into the seminar and exercise design.

Our University is practical lectures and competence oriented learning and teaching. In each block weekends you work intensely with a practical question. The teaching and examination methods as well as learning and teaching are based firmly focused on learning objectives. You deal with a research project, in which the issues of mental health in the context of work and organization, Health in the life cycles and epidemiology address and work health scientifically.

Second vocational subject care and therapy Sciences

Care Scientific and therapy scientific skills, action plans for neurological rehabilitation and for chronic conditions and professional action in critical situations, clinical diagnostic methods and specific didactics health professionals are further highlights in the degree program Medical Education (M. A.). Here you work case-oriented and self-employed at selected scientifically justified (evidence-based) medical and modern educational content.

Career prospects

As a result of the Bologna process and the associated development in education teachers in the future will be allowed to teach with corresponding university degree at the schools of public health. Since the training is not standardized in schools of health in the individual federal states, there are also different formal qualification requirements for teachers. The Master program Medical Education prepares you for the teaching activity in theory and practice before:
