Are you a talented student? And are you interested in the psychosocial factors of epidemiology, such as quality of life and public mental health issues? Then this is the programme for you.
The two-year program starts with two parallel modules on the basics of Medicine and Psychology. This ensures a solid background for all students. In addition, there will be more specialized modules.
The core of this program consists of a research project, resulting in a Master's thesis. In the first year, you will start with this project. The emphasis is on hands-on experience so that you gain expertise and experience in the full process. To support you with your research, you will be individually linked to a senior researcher in one of the participating research groups. To stimulate scientific thinking and reasoning, small coaching groups will meet once a week during the entire program under the supervision of a scientific coach. The scientific coach will also advise you on issues such as the choice of modules and your thesis project. In the Master’s program Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, you will learn how to apply your knowledge of developmental psychology in clinical practice.
How do children and adolescents develop? How do emotional and behavioral disorders emerge, and how can they be prevented? How can you use scientific knowledge to advise schools? Care, treatment and support
During this one-year Master’s program, you will learn all about the psychological care, treatment, and support of children and young people. We will also address how policies and institutions can contribute to child development.
As a child and youth psychologist, you will study:
systematic changes over the course of a child’s life;
the developmental processes that underlie and account for these changes;
the social context of developmental changes.
