Given the complex and evolving nature of multi-professional health care, skilled practitioners must be able to lead service transformation through advanced clinical assessment and decision making at the interface between primary and secondary care. Based on international research, developed with clinical experts and delivered within world-class learning facilities, this program has been designed with high quality, research-informed person-centered care at its heart.
Why study this course
This program allows you the flexibility to complete modules within a three-year timescale. The modules generally run in one or two week blocks making traveling and self-study time more straightforward to fit in. We also offer a distance-learning module. The program includes a range of modules in areas such as advanced health assessment and clinical decision making, leadership in advanced clinical practice, project management and research. There are opportunities to include Independent Prescribing or specialist clinical modules such as palliative and end of life care, care of older adults with complex needs, health promotion and public health. The program can be undertaken as a 3 year 180 credit Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice. Top-up modules from the set curriculum will be available in September 2015 for existing eligible practitioners who are already working towards a Masters qualification in Advanced Practice and who wish to complete the full Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice.
Applicants for the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice will have completed a course leading to professional healthcare registration, have at least 36 months clinical experience, should normally hold an honors degree in their clinical field of practice. Applicants will need to demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development that shows an ability to study at masters level. All routes require current registration with relevant professional/regulatory organizations and a clinical mentor or designated medical supervisor in a current employment context.
Please note: the ability to offer the independent prescribing route is subject to final approval by professional bodies. For this route, you will need to provide evidence of current professional registration and current DBS clearance.
The MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (International) is currently under development to commence in September 2017. Please note: this program does not offer a route to NMC registration/employment in the UK.

- by holding an English language qualification to the right level
