An M.D., or Doctor of Medicine, is an academic achievement that can take years of schooling to obtain. It is only awarded once students have shown they have the knowledge and experience required to practice medicine competently.

Key learning outcomes
Graduates acquire knowledge of biomedical disciplines, the structure and functions of individual body organs, diagnostic and preventive procedures, ability to set a plan of treatment and carry it out. Graduates must demonstrate profound knowledge of biomedical disciplines, causation of diseases of individual body systems, sepsis and antisepsis, ability to organise and prove the preventive treatment, medical ethics, legal standards in accordance with the medical profession. They demonstrate knowledge of pharmacotherapy, first aid in case of the sudden failure of organs, mainly on an infectious and inflammatory basis, failure of the immune system, diagnosis and treatment of tumours and genetically-determined diseases. Graduates are able to carry out examination, indicate, and interpret results, which are necessary for setting up the correct diagnosis, provide young and adult patients with medical care, communicate with patients and their relatives, and cooperate with other medical specialists, use methods of electronic communication and information technologies in at least one world language, evaluate the date provided to the patients, and carry out the overall examination. Also, graduates use knowledge of modern technologies in medical practice, set the steps of examination leading to diagnosis.
