Overview of disability issues in medical and social, economic, and psychological aspects of disability, issues of physical therapy and its role in modern medicine, the role of medical diagnostics for the needs of treatment and physiotherapy, and choosing and performing examinations and tests necessary to choose physiotherapeutic means. The role and significance of primary and secondary prophylaxis in preventing 21st-century civilisation diseases, and the role of pro-health education of the society.
The construction, functioning, use and principles of selecting orthopaedic devices. Teaching the competences and skills in describing and interpreting the principles of functioning of orthopaedic devices used in rehabilitation. Understanding the role of orthopaedic devices in rehabilitation.
Theoretical overview and the essence of the course, methods of assessing the locomotive system for the needs of physiotherapy and the methods and techniques of performing therapeutic exercises. Teaching biomechanical analysis of body posture and determinants of human locomotive functions. Teaching practical skills within therapeutic exercises, methods and techniques, based on theoretical knowledge and considering indications and contraindications of particular treatments. Basic methods used in manual therapy, using theoretical knowledge in kinesiotherapy. Teaching knowledge and skills within using particular kinesiotherapeutic treatments, according to the patients’ individual clinical images.
Theoretical and practical knowledge concerning using the biological effects on human tissues of physical stimuli within: thermotherapy, cryotherapy, phototherapy, hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, electromagnetic fields and balneoclimatology, with particular consideration of biophysics fundamentals, methodology, indications and contraindications for the performed treatments.
