Graduate Programs in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (MSTCM, DACM, DAOM, transitional DACM)
A distinguished faculty and rigorous curriculum have established the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) at California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), school of acupuncture and Chinese medicine as the premier Chinese medicine college and Acupuncture school in the US since 1980. Our three advanced degrees offer in-depth education and hands-on experience in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Chinese herbalism, Shiatsu and Tui Na massage, and holistic healing. Our graduates are expert healers who work in independent settings and integrative medicine teams and are leaders in their field.
- ACTCM's Master’s degree (MSTCM) offers students new to the field comprehensive knowledge and clinical proficiency in order to become a practicing health care provider and acupuncturist.
- Our First Professional Doctorate (DACM) is for new students to the field who wish to enter the profession on the doctorate level.
- We also offer an advanced post-graduate doctorate degree for practicing acupuncturists (DAOM or transitional DACM) who wish to develop new clinical and academic skills and engage in research, teaching, and scholarly work.
Founded in 1980 in San Francisco, The American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) at California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) is one of the oldest acupuncture and Chinese medicine colleges in the country. Distinguished faculty and a rigorous curriculum have established ACTCM as a truly exceptional program that brings in students from all over the world. ACTCM offers master’s and doctorate degrees in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine as well as a broad selection of certificate programs, public classes, and continuing education courses. In 2015, ACTCM joined with the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) which is also based in San Francisco. Recognized as “Best of the Bay”, the ACTCM Acupuncture & Herbal Clinic, and off-site clinics serve as a training ground for students while providing affordable health care services to the community.
The college has also been honored for its strong leadership role in promoting sustainable health care, particularly through protecting endangered species with WWF, AAF, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and Save the Tiger Fund.

ACTCM at CIIS offers two degree programs to students beginning their Chinese medicine careers, a Masters program (MSTCM) and a first professional Doctorate program (DACM). For students who are already practicing in the field and/or are licensed, we offer a postgraduate Doctorate program (DAOM).
