Students learn how to prepare treatment rooms and patients for treatments, assist dentists during treatment, perform infection control procedures, process radiographs, apply topical fluoride and anaesthetic, and maintain patient records, insurance accounts, and other general administrative duties.
Courses in the Intra-Oral Dental Assistant program consist of a variety of practical and theoretical lessons. Students begin with core dental studies which give an orientation to dentistry, oral facial science, and environmental health and safety. Students are also taught how to organize and manage diagnostic records, conduct radiography, and perform administrative duties.
