A student who wants to have a career in obstetrics may study midwifery during his or her higher education. Midwifery looks at reproductive health, pregnancy, child birth and postpartum care to give students the tools needed to succeed professionally.

Australia has a subsidized higher education for students pursuing the undergraduate degrees. They also give loan and grants for the post graduate students. Higher learning starts at undergraduate degree level to a doctoral degree offered in any field of study.

Students can select individual courses in accordance with their interests. Students may also structure a series of classes in a way that might achieve specific objectives such as improving job skills, pursuing new careers, or obtaining certificates or degrees.

Part time learning allows one to obtain part-time degrees even if one cannot attend school on a full-time basis. One can learn at his or own pace, gradually accumulating credits which count towards final qualification.
