Molecular Medicine Workshops in California, USA
Recommended for 16- 18 years of age
We provide advanced classes for high-achieving high school students interested in pursuing a career in medicine or related fields, such as biomedical research, drug development, pharmacy or nursing.
There are several workshops on offer with Rosetta Institute– Molecular Biology of Cancer, Molecular Neuroscience, Molecular Immunology, Molecular Biology of Development and Aging, Medical and Translational Bioinformatics and Biomedical Research – taught by PhD-level instructors with years of research and teaching experience.
Through engaging lectures and hands-on laboratory classes, students learn normal molecular and cellular biology and then learn how these normal processes are disrupted or distorted during the development of a disease. In addition, there is a heavy emphasis on modern drug development and the emergence of the era of personalized medicine. To conclude the workshop, students use what they have learned to create an original research project on a gene or molecular process of their choice.... [-]
Learn how to use Point Prevalence Surveys (PPS) to measure antibiotic consumption and fight antimicrobial resistance. ... [+]
Point Prevalence Surveys (PPS) are an important tool for healthcare professionals to use to assess and improve antibiotic prescribing locally, nationally and globally.
This online course - led by experts from the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC) - looks at their use. You’ll discover the importance of measuring antibiotic consumption and how PPS can help.
You’ll look at the steps required to conduct a PPS, including what data to collect and why, how to analyze, present and learn from it. You’ll also evaluate the limitations of PPS.
What topics will you cover? The importance of measurement in antimicrobial stewardship programmes. The benefits of conducting a PPS. The types of data collected. The importance of feedback of results to drive improvements in antibiotic prescribing. Key messages from success stories across the globe. What will you achieve? ... Nanomedicine is a combination of nanotechnology and medicine. It provides new direction in medical diagnosis, monitoring and treatment at the level of single molecules or molecular assemblies at the “nano” scale. Additionally, continuing improvement in the pharmacological and therapeutic properties of drugs is driving the revolution in novel drug delivery systems.
This unique and innovating online course platform focuses mainly on the applications of nanotechnology to drug delivery and highlights several areas of opportunity where current and emerging nanotechnologies could enable novel classes of therapeutics.... [-]
