Course in Nutrition & Dietetics Internship program in Tuscany (Italy)
Date 1: June 30/July 13 - Date 2: July 21/August 3
This year the BAU Rome Summer program of Nutrition & Dietetics will offer the possibility to experience the daily life of nutritionists and dietitians at work in the Italian healthcare industry, with a series of 1) workshops and visits in-hospital to the units dealing with endocrinology, metabolic diseases, cancer surgery and parenteral nutrition 2) group works, simulations and vis-a-vis sessions with the patients and the experts of an Italian Rehab Center of excellence for the treatment of eating disorders.
The programs divided into 2 sessions
From July 1 to July 4, will be held at the hospitals of Massa and Carrara, under the supervision of Dr. Prof. Angiolo Tagliagambe, renowned Italian expert, professor and researcher in the field of cancer radiosurgery and 4.0 technologies for the cancer treatment. Plenary sessions dedicated to the presentation and discussion of case studies, best practices and most innovative technologies for the body mass assessment and the treatment of cancer in the digestive system of the human body, will be alternated with rotation visits to the crisis units dealing with endocrinology and metabolic diseases, clinical and parenteral nutrition. At the end of this session, participants will receive a Certificate of attendance signed by Dr. Tagliagambe.
From July 8 to July 12 will be focused on management and organizational issues, best practices and working methods of an Italian Rehab Center of excellence, Madre Cabrini DCA in Pontremoli (Tuscany), which is renowned for the high rate of success in treating eating disorders, thanks to the application of a multidisciplinary approach which combines nutritional counseling with psychological assistance and work with the patients’ families. Participants will be immersed in the daily life of a Rehab Center, interacting vis a vis with patients, doctors, nutritionists, psychiatrists, and psychologists, dieticians, educators, nurses, physiotherapists and experts of physical education and rehabilitation. will be focused on management and organizational issues, best practices and working methods of a real Rehabilitation Center, such as Madre Cabrini, which is renowned for the high rate of success in treating eating disorders, thanks to the application of a multidisciplinary approach which combines nutritional counseling with psychological assistance and work with the patients’ families. Participants will be daily interacting with patients, doctors, nutritionists, psychiatrists, and psychologists, dieticians, educators, nurses, physiotherapists and experts of physical education and rehabilitation. At the end of this session, participants will receive a Certificate of the Internship conducted at Madre Cabrini DCA.
Participants shall arrive on Sunday (June 30 for the Internship number 1 and July 21 for the Internship number 2) at the Pisa airport, all together with the same flight. A shuttle will take the students to Pontremoli, a little gem of the Region Tuscany which amazes visitors with the richness of its Baroque palaces and churches and the beauty of its natural resources, also famous because VIP of the Italian and International Music, such as Sting and Zucchero Fornaciari, live here.
For the whole duration of the program, participants will stay at the Madre Cabrini Residence, sharing double rooms in studio flats equipped with a kitchenette and internal bathroom.
For the Internship number 1, check in at Madre Cabrini Residence is on Sunday, June 30, check out on Saturday, July 13. For Internship number 2, check-in is on July 21 and check out is on Saturday, August 3.
After July 13 and August 3 two options are offered:
- Pick up for the airport of Pisa, back to Istanbul included in the fee.
- Week-end program in Rome. In this case, shuttle and accommodation in Rome are not included in the program fee but can be arranged at very convenient prices.
Fees & Obligatory Requirements
Fees include BAU Global Application Fee; pick up and drop off at the airport of Pisa, accommodation in double room to share in a studio flat at Madre Cabrini Residence, training, workshops and shuttle to the hospitals of Massa and Carrara for the in-hospital training.
Students admitted to attend this program must:
- Pay their fees no later than May 27 for the Internship number 1 and no later than June 14 for the internship number 2, in order to receive admission and invitation letters necessary to apply for a touristic visa, which is mandatory if they are Non-EU. In the case of visa rejection fees will be refunded.
