Programme overview The Institute of Sport Studies offers a three year bachelor's programme, made up of 180 European Credits. The programma prepares you to be an innovative professional in the dynamic field of sport, health and management. You develop influental skills and manage related projects and organisations but you are also capable of coaching and offering advice to others. These broad competences are reflected in the programme. Programme overview Competence-based curriculum The study programme Physiotherapy is a professional allied health programme. In order to guarantee that your knowledge meets the criteria set by the professional field, these criteria are translated into competences. Your education revolves around the development of these competences. Examples of these competences are: working methodically and applying clinical-based thinking providing interested parties with information on prevention conducting research adopting a professional attitude communicating with others in your field, and with other health professionals. Study structure The Physiotherapy programme is a four-year programme (240 EC). Each year is divided into two semesters and each semester into two blocks. During these blocks, you will have approximately 17 contact hours per week; independent learning and practical training fill the remaining hours. The theoretical part is offered in small tutorial groups (12 students). An assessment takes place at the end of each block. Studying abroad As a member of the European Network of Physiotherapy Higher Education (ENPHE), the Bachelor programme of Physiotherapy is involved in the development of the European standard for physiotherapists. Students will study both community and individual health needs and learn to plan, manage and evaluate nursing care strategies. They will be trained to ensure the correct application of diagnostic and therapeutic actions, acting both individually and in collaboration with other health care and social services operators. The programme, which is based on lectures, seminars, workshops and practical simulations, includes traditional learning activities, modern teaching tools and training with specialist health services, as well as laboratory activities and internships.
