Just what is a Bachelor of Health Administration? Such a degree program is often designed to educate students on becoming leaders in the health care sector by providing them with instruction on technology, business, policy and ethics and how each intersect with health care. A course might be centered specifically on working alongside health care stakeholders or learning more about micro and macroeconomics. Scholars could also learn the finer points of accounting and budgeting as well as human resources management.

One of the advantages of completing an undergraduate degree program in health administration is qualifying for a position as a health information manager, nursing home administrator, assistant administrator or health information manager. An additional benefit is the possibility of earning a higher salary that’s commensurate with the level of knowledge an employee possesses.

The overall cost of a degree program is dependent on whether a student attends full-time or part-time, the institution’s geographic location, whether the program is online or on-campus and if a student qualifies for scholarships or financial aid. Schools should be contacted for the most current financial information.

Industries that often hire individuals with undergraduate degrees in health administration include government; state, local and private hospitals; residential care and nursing facilities; and ambulatory health care services. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, those employed as health and medical services managers are expected to experience a job growth percentage of approximately 20 percent from 2012 to 2022, which is much faster when compared to other occupations.
