The application process The normal application process for CSU's Bachelor of Physiotherapy is through UAC or VTAC. STAT or UMAT scores are not considered for entry into CSU's Bachelor of Physiotherapy. For school leavers, the ATAR is all that is considered. For applicants who have studied at tertiary level, previous Grade Point Average (GPA) is the primary indicator, with their ATAR also considered. Over the past five years, the average GPA has been around 6.0. This constitutes a Distinction, or B or H2 average. If you are not accepted into this course, you are advised to consider whether physiotherapy is the profession you really want to pursue. To assist you with this decision, you could obtain some work experience or seek advice from a career counsellor. If you still wish to pursue physiotherapy as a career and you have no Year 12 qualification, or if your first ATAR was not high enough, you may consider re-sitting Year 12. The Second Entry Program The Bachelor of Nursing – Second Entry Preparation program offers students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in a minimum of 60 credit hours of university courses a pathway into the nursing profession. Taking into account an individual’s prior learning and following the completion of a preparation semester, the Bachelor of Nursing – Second Entry Preparation program allows students to complete the curriculum in two years. Admission to the Bachelor of Nursing – Second Entry Preparation program is a two-step process. First students are admitted to a preparatory semester, offered from September to December, consisting of five courses: Introductory Psychology Introductory Statistics Human Anatomy Pathophysiology Microbiology Secondly, students must maintain a grade of at least 74 per cent in each preparatory course in order to be admitted into the Bachelor of Nursing – Second Entry Preparation program. Students who possess all of the preparatory courses at the university level may be admitted directly into the Bachelor of Nursing – Second Entry program. A relevant, well-rounded curriculum focuses on the nurse’s role in community/public health, primary health-care and acute-care settings. All full-time faculty hold a master’s degree or higher. Admission Requirements A completed three- or four-year university degree with a 3.0 or 74 per cent grade point average (GPA) or higher. For applicants who have completed more than 60 credit hours, the admission average will be calculated on the most recent 60 credit hours of course work.
