This complementary approach to biomedical science is unique in the Netherlands. The programme is characterized by a high number of practical courses and teaching is to a large extent organized in small-sized classes. Throughout the first year, these classes are supervised by a very enthusiastic group of qualified junior lecturers who will guide and mentor you. STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAMME The programme starts in the first year with an introductory course in which you will get acquainted with the field of biomedical science and acquire basic academic competences that you will further develop over the entire duration of the programme. Courses offered in the first year cover basic concepts, such as genetics, cell biology, immunology, and evolutionary biology. Title acquired upon completion of the study: Upon completion of study, one acquires the academic title of Doctor of Medicine. The main task of the study program is to train students, future physicians, to practice independently in the primary health care system. The study also provides a basis for further, scientifically oriented education at postgraduate doctoral studies. The subject matter from various scientific disciplines that students must adopt in the course of the study program is grouped into five groups of courses: general education, basic medical, preclinical, clinical and public health courses. The distribution of course subjects over the semesters allows optimal acquiring of the prescribed knowledge and skills (according to the Catalogue of Knowledge and Skills, adopted by all medical faculties in the Republic of Croatia), and supported by adapted teaching forms (lectures, seminars, practical classes, demonstrations, work at clinical departments, field practice and other).
