A bachelor’s degree is a higher education program that can be obtained in about four years. Many bachelor programs are offered in person as well as on online so that even students who live in remote areas or who cannot attend school full-time can advance their education.
The study of biomedical science combines diverse and specialized disciplines such as pharmacology, anatomy, and immunology. Biomedical science researchers look for ways to sustain and even improve health in animals and humans.
In all, there are over 4000 Higher Education Institutions in Europe offering a wide range of courses at Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate level. With more and more of these organizations offering English as the language of education for at least some of their degree programs, universities in Europe are now of higher quality than ever before. Universities in Europe offer a friendly welcome to foreign students and to give a course of knowledge that meets their profession needs in today’s global demand.

The Human Medicine master program builds on the Health Sciences bachelor degree. Besides offering the scientific training required to enter the medical profession, the program is geared towards providing the skills needed by independent practitioners. The curriculum also supports development of the core competences of medical experts – professional conduct, interdisciplinary collaboration and communicative abilities – and other key qualities required for a medical career. On completing their degree, graduates receive the academic title of doctor of medicine (Dr.med.univ.). This wide-ranging program provides students with comprehensive expertise. Courses include a strong practical element and students get to grips with concrete medical issues at an early stage. The emphasis is on health science topics in a range of disciplines. An additional focus on technology and economics means that graduates will have developed strong interdisciplinary communication and problem-solving skills, and excellent clinical abilities. As a result they are ideally placed to assume the responsibilities of decision-makers in an advanced health care system. The program’s distinctive practical element comes courtesy of our close relations with a network of university hospitals comprising facilities in St Pölten, Krems, and Tulln. The Biomedical Engineering, Health Economics/Health Care Management and Applied Clinical Science electives give prospective physicians the opportunity to carry out specialist research into these topics during their degree. Assessment At the end of the program, students are required to write a master thesis. They begin working towards the thesis in the first semester, when they present a synopsis of a study project. Students obtain specific... [-]
This degree offers you the opportunity to gain a comprehensive background in the medical science and engineering of materials for repairing or replacing damaged, diseased or missing tissues in the human body. [+]
Artificial hip and knee joints, replacement blood vessels and heart valves, artificial teeth and fillings, contact lenses, modern drug delivery systems and tissue engineering are just a few of the growing number of applications of biomedical materials. This degree offers you the opportunity to gain a comprehensive background in the medical science and engineering of materials for repairing or replacing damaged, diseased or missing tissues in the human body.
The Biomedical Materials Science course is one of the few courses focussing equally on the biological and material sciences and our graduates, therefore, find career opportunities in a wide range of areas related to medical and dental sciences. “As long as humans cannot replace lost tissue like a salamander, the development of biomaterials and biomaterials-based tissue engineering scaffolds will be crucial for the well-being of an ageing population. Characterisation and development of novel biomaterials are what the Biomedical Materials Science course is about.” Dr Mike Hofmann, Biomaterials Researcher Also referred to as 'The Biomaterials Course', the programme is multidisciplinary and taught in several departments, including Dentistry, Medicine, and Metallurgy and Materials. The course is centred around the Biomaterials Unit one of the principal research units within the School of Dentistry, which links clinical work with both clinical and scientific research. Our state of the art laboratories are based at the brand new Dental Hospital.... [-]

Bachelor in Biomedical Sciences (BSc)
Our BSc Honours Biomedical Science degree course appeals to students with a science background who are interested in a career in hospital laboratories, scientific research or further study. This is a dynamic course taught by enthusiastic lecturers and backed by experts in the field. Our labs and teaching rooms are new and built to our own specification to ensure that you have the best possible experience, and we have capped the number of students we take to ensure small classes receiving a personally tailored learning experience. The degree is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science, giving students a professional qualification that can take them onto a recognised career path.Middlesex recently opened its state-of-the-art bioanalytical laboratories for teaching and research. With investment totalling £3 million the facilities match, and in some cases surpass, those offered at UK medical schools. The labs provide the next generation of scientific instrumentation for molecular analysis, post the genomic era - in line with the new focus in scientific research on protein-hunting rather than gene-hunting.As well as being used by undergraduate and postgraduate students, they will be used by academic and research staff who continue to pioneer research particularly into developing affordable treatment for AIDS-related cancer patients in third world countries. Some of the main features of the new laboratories are:...
