The program will also emphasize and equip the graduate with the skills needed for life-long learning, effective team work and scientific enquiry. During the last semester, the student is rotated to various laboratories and / or medical diagnostics industry to gain on the job experience under the close supervision of his/her supervisors which serves to provide opportunities to attain appropriate higher level skills before they enter independent practice as laboratory and/or research personnel. At the end of the program the graduates will be able to enter a career that is service-oriented in the laboratory sciences or medical diagnostics industry or in an academic field in the Basic Sciences. An additional path that will be open to the graduate is embarking on an intensive course of studies in a field such as Laboratory Medicine, Clinical Chemistry, Toxicology or Molecular Biology, Public Health etc. leading initially to a Master degree. Admission Requirements Applicants shall meet all criteria for admission into respective programs offered by the University as laid down in the Standards (2011) published by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research (MOHE&SR), UAE. The applicant must have completed a minimum of 12 years of education in school and passed subjects in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Higher Secondary school. The applicants from UAE educational system must have secured an aggregate of 80% or above marks as per UAE Secondary School Education Standards. The applicants from Non-UAE educational systems must have secured an aggregate equivalent to UAE 80% or above [as per International Grade Conversion Table]. Applicants for the MBBS program from the Indian sub-continent educational system must have a minimum of 60% or above [First Division] in the Higher secondary School Examination. Applicants for all other programs a minimum of 50% or above [Second Division] in the Higher secondary School Examination. Students who pursued their Higher / Senior Secondary School Education as per UK system must have studied at least two of the three science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) in ‘AS' level or ‘A' level provided they have passed in all the three subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) in ‘O' level. The minimum grade requirement is B in at least two subjects in ‘AS' level or C in at least two subjects in ‘A' level. Students of Indian nationality who pursued UK education system should have studied all the three science subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) in ‘A' level. Applicants from the International Baccalaureate (IB) educational system must have a score of 28 points or above provided they have passed all the three science subjects in Grade 10. Applicants with American Diploma must have a score of 80% or above provided they have scored a minimum of 550 in Molecular Biology in the SAT II examination. Description At the very outset, the University realized that the current pace of development and the specificity of the present-day medicine (introduction of molecular and personalized medicine) require training doctors with sufficient knowledge in different fields of science. Therefore, the General Medicine Educational Program is based on an approach combining high quality medical training by top specialists in different fields of medicine with a comprehensive education in natural sciences, social and economic disciplines, mathematics and humanities and students’ participation in research projects. The idea behind the introduction of this specialty is to train highly qualified medical doctors/researchers with expertise in clinical disciplines and having research skills and knowledge of natural sciences required for biomedical research. The objective of the specialized clinical training is to prepare medical doctors with necessary behavioural and critical clinical skills for the application of algorithms of providing medical care for urgent and life threatening conditions, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. The programme graduates are prepared to pursue preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, educational, and organizational and research careers; they can continue their education in an internship, residency, doctoral programme according to post-graduate professional education programmes. Program goal Aim of the Educational program is to train highly qualified medical doctors with expertise in clinical disciplines and having research skills and knowledge of natural sciences required for biomedical research. Duration of study Six academic years. Language of instruction English is the language of instruction during the first two years of study.
