  • The philosophy of the undergraduate curriculum is rooted in values of excellence, diversity, community, social justice, integrity, and creativity. Preparation for the various roles in practice requires knowledge of the arts and sciences, together with content and processes foundational to the discipline. We are a community of learners and scholars—a community that is created in collaboration with students.
  • The faculty believes that their teaching styles need to take into account the diverse nature of how students learn. Ultimately, nursing education requires a commitment to community service, scholarly inquiry, interdisciplinary, and life-long learning.

RAK College of Nursing offers the following Programs:

There are two streams, A&B. Stream A – BSN and Stream B – RN-BSN.

Stream A: BSN degree program:

The four-year curriculum has been designed to provide quality education in nursing, which is comparable to international levels. It also ensures that each student is exposed to professional knowledge and practices through evidence-based learning and problem-solving approaches.

This program is fully accredited by the Ministry of Education UAE.

Stream B: RN-BSN Bridge Program

Two-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Program full time for registered nurses who have completed a Diploma in Nursing and also have two years of clinical experience.

BSN Program Outcomes

Knowledge:(A)

On successful completion of the BSN program the graduate will be able to:

  • Describe the basic terminology, key ideas, acknowledging sources, on the accuracy, on rational argument, development of questioning attitude.
  • Describe the specific facts, terms and basic principles with the ability to understand, interpret and express coherently.
  • Identify, describe and utilize the literature and language of the discipline appropriately.
  • Incorporate historical, social, legal and ethical aspects of health care in professional nursing
  • Explain the basic concepts of nature and social sciences relevant to nursing.
  • Demonstrate the skills appropriate to the subject and laboratory skills and also to articulate clearly
  • Demonstrate critical thinking in the assessment, planning, and evaluation of client care through the synthesis and application of validated knowledge and theories from nursing, humanities, and psychological, social health sciences

Skills: (B)

On successful completion of the BSN program the graduate will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to establish, maintain and terminate therapeutic relationships with clients.
  • Implement nursing processes to promote, maintain and restore the health of individuals, families, groups, and communities.
  • Formulate clinical judgment that is based on critical inquiry and analytical reasoning.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle cognitive complexity, to, apply knowledge and skills in new situations.
  • Apply creative solutions/approaches in the clinical area.
  • Apply research-based knowledge and experience to reflect upon practice
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate a program of care with the clients and inter-professional health care team.

On successful completion of the RN-BSN Bridge program the graduate will be able to:

On successful completion of the RN-BSN Bridge program the graduate will be able to:

Admission Criteria for BSN

  • An aggregate of 70% in the grade 12 science stream/ Advanced stream of UAE GSEC of Ministry of Education. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Biology and Chemistry/Physics.
  • Abu Dhabi Education Council stream students should similarly have 70% aggregate. Preference in admission will be given to those with high scores in Advanced Biology (level 3) and Advanced Chemistry (level 3).
  • For B.Pharm & BSN Programs: Proficiency in English equivalent to a TOEFL score of 500 in paper-based test, 61 in internet-based test or 173 in computer-based test OR Academic IELTS score of 5 OR EmSAT Achieve-English score of 1100 – 1225 OR Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) score of 41 OR City & Guilds IESOL Test score of B1/B2 Borderline OR Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE A) score range of 36-41 is required.

Admission Criteria for the RN- BSN bridge Program

Minimum eligibility for the RN-BSN Bridge program:

As Registered Nurses employed in UAE hold Associate Degree/ Diploma in nursing from accredited nursing colleges, in order to join the RN-BSN Bridge program, the following admission requirements should be fulfilled:

  • The Registered Nurse should have completed the Associate Degree/Diploma in Nursing of 3-year duration from an accredited school of nursing with at least 65%-70% aggregate (by adding 1%of credit for every one year of experience up to a maximum of 5% credit).

The following documents are to be submitted to fulfill admission requirements:

  • RN licensure from the country of origin.
  • Should produce grade 12/high school completed and attested mark sheet and obtain Equivalency for the same from the Ministry of Education(MOE, UAE) Two to 6 years of clinical working experience in hospital/community center after completion of Associate Degrees / Diploma in Nursing depending on aggregate marks secured
  • TOEFL passed with a minimum of 500 points (in paper-based) or IELTS with a score of 5.0 or EmSAT Achieve- English score of 1100 – 1225.
  • Should have obtained Equivalency Certificate from Ministry of Education (MOE) for the 3-year Diploma in Nursing/Associate Degree.
  • Should have completed the following prerequisites courses in the Associate Degree/ Diploma in Nursing.

General Education Courses: English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics.

Humanities and Social Science Courses: Introduction to Psychology; Microbiology; Pathology; Anatomy and Physiology – 1 & 2; Biochemistry; Human Nutrition; Sociology.

Nursing Courses: Fundamentals of Nursing, Pharmacology in Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing – 1 & 2, Community Health Nursing – 1, Pediatric Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Gynecological, and Maternity Nursing.

Admission Criteria for Conversion Program leading to BSN:

Conversion Program leading to BSN:

  • The pathway from enrolment in the Conversion program, leading to admission into the BSN program at RAKMHSU. Based on the agreement signed by Ministry of Health & Prevention (MOHAP) and RAKMHSU, UAE Nationals who have completed Arts stream of UAE curriculum/12th grade with 75% or above aggregate can apply to Ministry of Health & Prevention (MOHAP) for sponsorship to join Conversion Program within the dates mentioned by them. MOHAP will provide the final list of the students selected for sponsorship to RAKMHSU.
  • All other nationalities from the Arts stream who wish to join the Conversion Program have to remit AED 13,000 after fulfilling admissions requirements.
  • The duration of the Conversion Program is 16 weeks. Upon passing the Conversion Program with a GPA of 2, and upon meeting the English Language requirements (IELTS with a score of 5 or TOEFL paper-based test with a score of 500), EmSAT Achieve- English score of 1100 – 1225, students will be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program.

Note: UAE Nationals from the Advanced/Science stream who fulfill all the requirements for the BSN program at RAK MHSU may directly approach MOH for sponsorship.
