Keep the Public in Good Hands

Help individuals and communities to live safe, long, healthy and productive lives through disease prevention, wellness promotion, and emergency preparedness.

Be a Problem Solver

Colby-Sawyer’s public health program brings you face-to-face with complex issues that influence population health and affect vulnerable populations. Learn processes, approaches, and interventions that protect human health, as well as the socioeconomic, behavioral, biological and environmental factors that impact health and contribute to disparities.

Take courses in epidemiology; sociology of aging; personal health and wellness; mental health systems in the United States; and sustainability and statistics for well-rounded public health education.

Network with others in the state who are interested in public health through Colby-Sawyer’s membership with N.H. Public Health Association.

Research, collect and analyze data during your senior Capstone project for an in-depth assessment and evaluation of a public health issue of your choice; topics have included violence on college campuses, teen pregnancy, influenza vaccination of college-age students and the cholera epidemic in post-earthquake Haiti.

Put your classroom knowledge and research skills into action with a required internship in clinical settings or a government public health agency.

Minor in Health Studies

Explore significant health care issues and think critically about the future of healthcare through courses in health studies, biology, public health, and the social sciences. The health studies minor complements a wide range of non-health related majors and offers additional career options when combined with programs in our business, environmental studies, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences and education departments.
