Introduction
A Program for Future Dentists
If you already know that you’re interested in a career in dentistry, Nova Southeastern University’s Dental Medicine Dual Admission program can help you meet the growing national need for skilled dentists.
With dual admission, your spot in NSU’s highly selective College of Dental Medicine will be saved as you earn your bachelor’s degree. That means more time focusing on making good grades—and good friends—and less on where you’re going to dental school.
Throughout the program, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to practice in real-world situations. Clinical rotations, research, and service-learning in our clinics and community outreach projects are all excellent ways to learn while making a difference.
Program overview
The Doctor of Dental Medicine is a seven-year or eight-year program.
The seven-year program (3+4) is a combined program; students will follow a three-year prescribed course of study in the undergraduate major. Students will be awarded a bachelor's degree after successfully completing the first year of professional education at the College of Dental Medicine.
In the eight-year program (4+4), students complete the four-year undergraduate major and are awarded a bachelor's degree before starting the dental medicine program. Students in both programs will receive the D.M.D. degree after four years of training at the College of Dental Medicine.

What Can You Do with a Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree?
Everyone needs a dentist, and every dentist answers that call. NSU’s D.M.D. program can help you join the field of dentistry as a caring, competent professional. You’ll cover the fundamentals and put theory into practice in a high-tech simulation laboratory and clinical rotations that serve highly vulnerable populations.
Our active alumni association can provide guidance about how to begin your career and where it can take you. The excellent postdoctoral programs at NSU offer opportunities for surgical and other specializations, as well as research to support the future of dentistry.
