Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology is a two-year course which prepares students for the most important professions that provide allied health care. The students are skilled to perform tests that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. This program equips candidates with the necessary skills required to handle lab equipment and perform accurate laboratory testσ.
Medical Laboratory Technology also called Clinical laboratory science is an allied health profession which is concerned with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease through the use of clinical laboratory tests. These tests help doctors to detect, diagnose and treat diseases. A Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) do these tests by analyzing body fluids, tissues, blood typing, microorganism screening, chemical analyses, cell counts of human body etc. They play an important role in collecting the information's needed, sampling, testing, reporting, and documentation of these investigations. They determine the presence, extent or absence of disease and provide data needed to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment.
This multidisciplinary curriculum comprises of core modules related foundation courses in:
- Basic and paramedical sciences
- Blood banking
- Sr. Secondary (10+2) in PCB
- Good knowledge of English
Career and Placement
A technologist may find jobs in hospitals, minor emergency centers, private laboratories, blood banks and doctor's office or clinics, etc.
Achievements The 1st Batch of students of B. Sc. Medical Lab Technology was admitted in 2011 and is undergoing their training and studies. The students of different batches of Diploma in Medical Lab Technology who have passed-out have been placed for gainful employment in a number of healthcare facilities in the NCR.
