• Communication and social skills
• Practical work in industry and research
Biotechnology is one of the fastest growing sectors internationally, and demand is strong for qualified experts, managers, and researchers. Biotechnology offers potential solutions to many of the pressing problems medicine is currently facing. The development of antibodies for use in arthritis therapy and the new technologies for skin transplants and cartilage generation have dramatically improved the quality of life of millions of patients worldwide. And these are only the first outstanding successes of a discipline that is still in its youth.
Applicants with a secondary school-leaving qualification (the Austrian Matura or an equivalent foreign qualification) are judged to have fulfilled the entry criteria.
The academic board is responsible for checking compliance with the entry requirements on a case-by-case basis once the prospective student’s complete application file has been received.
For male applicants holding Austrian citizenship, it is strongly recommended that they have completed their compulsory military or alternative service, or received a dispensation.
